  My Web Design Philosophy

  1. I believe content should always drive design.  Web Sites should be relatively fast on Dial Up connections and easy to use.
  2. I desire to design a very  functional website. The coolest feature of a website is the one that pays you to have it. You want people to visit again and again
  3. Most of my websites look very similar in layout.  People can use one of my websites and go to another and navigate it in a very similar fashion.  However it's features will be different according to each application.
  4. Standards can and should be developed.  Can you imagine a highway with no rules or standards.  Every intersection would be a disaster and you would be constantly asking, "Am I on the correct side of the road or are they?"
  5. Innovation comes with an experience that is used, not just hoped to be used.
  6. Bell's and whistles can be expensive and can always be used later.  I prefer to develop a plain straight forward site that will integrate into your business where appropriate. Less is more!  Ease of use and Low cost maintenance is the goal!
  7. There are many Artist much more qualified than myself.  I will utilize a number of resources to integrate when it is feasible.  I will always ask the following questions:
  • Will this addition/feature make my site easier to use?
  • Is the feature worth the cost of development and maintenance?
  • Will it update itself or will I have to do it or pay someone to do it?
  • How long before it reaches it's useful obsolescence?
  • What is the best approach to the given situation?
  • Are the clients Goals and Values congruent with MacWood Enterprises?
  • Will it require changes in the logistics in the business?

The Following are some websites I have designed or have been involved in designing.
